Marking the moments that matter

There are moments in life when we want to celebrate, give thanks, make promises, or simply find somewhere to turn. At Bromley Parish Church, we are here for all of these moments.

Whether you are thinking about a baptism, preparing for a wedding, saying goodbye to someone you love, or wondering about taking the next step in your own faith, we would be delighted to hear from you.

As a parish church, we are here for the whole community. You do not need to be a regular churchgoer to get in touch, and you do not need to have all the answers. We can talk things through with you and help you work out what is right for you and your family.

Baptisms

Baptism is a special way of celebrating the gift of life and giving thanks to God. It is a chance to make promises about the kind of life you hope for your child or for yourself, and to ask for the support and prayers of the church community.

At Bromley Parish Church, we welcome both children and adults for baptism. For children, baptism is a joyful moment for families to give thanks for their child and to begin their journey of faith within the church. For adults, baptism is a personal step of commitment, often marking a new or renewed faith in God.

Baptism is both a joyful celebration and the beginning of a journey of faith. We would be very happy to talk with you about what it might mean for you or your family.

Weddings

Your wedding day is about more than the ceremony itself. It is a chance to celebrate your relationship, make promises to one another and begin your married life surrounded by the people who matter to you.

Bromley Parish Church is a beautiful historic church in the heart of Bromley, with a long tradition of celebrating weddings. From the music and bells to the words and prayers of the service, we will work with you to make your wedding personal, joyful and meaningful.

You do not need to be a regular churchgoer to get married here. There are a number of different ways that you may qualify to marry in your parish church, and we can talk you through these when you make an enquiry.

We can also help you think through the practical details of your service, including music, readings, flowers and photography.

Funerals

When someone dies, there are often many decisions to make at a time when life feels overwhelming. We are here to help.

A funeral at Bromley Parish Church provides a space to mourn, to give thanks for a person’s life, to hear words of hope and to commend them into God’s keeping. The service can be simple or more elaborate, and can include hymns, readings, prayers, music and an address that reflects the person who has died.

Funerals can take place at the church or, where appropriate, we can work with families whose funeral is taking place at a crematorium or elsewhere.

If someone close to you has died, you will normally make arrangements through a funeral director, who will contact the church on your behalf. You are also very welcome to contact us directly if you would like to talk to someone or ask about a funeral.

We know that there is no one-size-fits-all funeral. We will listen to you and help you create a service that is appropriate for the person you are remembering and for those who are left behind.

Confirmation

Confirmation is an opportunity to affirm for yourself the faith into which you were baptised and to pray for the strengthening of God’s Holy Spirit.

For some people, confirmation is the natural next step after baptism or First Communion. For others, it is something they come to much later in life, perhaps after returning to church or discovering faith for the first time as an adult.

We prepare people carefully for confirmation, with opportunities to explore the Christian faith, ask questions and think about what it means to follow Christ.

If you are wondering whether confirmation might be for you, please get in touch. You do not need to have everything worked out before you start asking the questions.

Pastoral Care

Sometimes life is joyful and exciting; sometimes it is difficult, lonely or uncertain. The church is here for all of it.

Our pastoral care team offers a listening ear, prayer, visits and practical and spiritual support to people who may be going through a difficult time, including those who are unable to get out and about easily.

You do not have to be a regular member of the congregation to ask for support. If you would value a conversation with someone from the church, please contact the Vicar. We will treat what you share with care and confidentiality.
